Emil Faisal Hasselberg (b.1999, Gothenburg, Sweden) is a swedish-afghan artist, based in Umeå, Sweden. He began his artistic journey through blacksmithing before continuing to study the Bachelor and Masters in Fine Arts at HDK- Valand, Campus Steneby & Umeå Art Academy.
My artistic practice focuses on combining craftsmanship with a conceptual mindset. Recurrent in my work is to create moving objects that interplay with the space a source for interactiveness. I primarily express myself through metal, creating sculptures and installations using repurposed materials. Through playfulness, reflection and focus on materiality, I aim to embody my experiences and feelings into physical objects. With my work I strive to examine themes of our social relations to the forest and forestry, identity and heritage.
